Faruqi & Faruqi Obtains Final Approval In Asahi Beer Settlement That Confers on Consumers Benefit for $5,000,000
On January 14, 2020, Judge Amy D. Hogue of the Superior Court of California granted final approval of a class-wide settlement in a class action involving Asahi beer products. The settlement resolves a multi-year dispute challenging Asahi for misleadingly advertising its beer products as being brewed in Japan when the beers are actually brewed in Canada. The settlement provides consumers with monetary reimbursements for their purchases of Asahi beer and requires changes to Asahi beers’ labeling, emphasizing that the beers are brewed in Canada. Together, these benefits are valued at over $5,000,000. Faruqi & Faruqi, LLP represented Plaintiffs in the action. A copy of the Court’s Order can be found here.
