The statute of limitations is a legal way of saying how much time you have to bring your lawsuit before your claims expire. But once the time period expires, you can no longer bring your claims, absent extraordinary circumstances. The statute of limitations of consumer protection laws varies from state to state and from law to law.
In California, for example, the statute of limitations for consumer protection laws can go as long as four years back. This means that if you think you were deceived even four years ago, you can likely still bring California consumer protection claims.
